- Yeast - A fungus which is used in the fermentation of alcohol and in making
bread. Yeast is a good source of Vitamin B.
- Yellow Elastic Fibrocartilage - Flexible cartilage,
foe example in the ear and epiglottis.
- Yellow Fever - An infectious disease, occurring mainly in Africa and South America. Yellow fever is caused by an arbovirus carried by the mosquito Aedes aegypti. It affects the liver and causes jaundice. There is no known cure for yellow fever and it can be fatal, but vaccination can prevent it.
