- Jaundice - A medical condition in which there is an excess of bile pigment in the
blood, and in which the pigment is deposited in the skin and the whites of the eyes, which
have a yellow colour. There can be many causes of jaundice, usually relating to the liver. The most common causes are blockage of the bile ducts by gallstones or by disease of the liver and Weil’s disease.
- Joint Capsule - The white fibrous tissue which surrounds and holds a joint together.
- Jugular Veins - There are three jugular veins on each side the neck. The internal jugular is large and leads to the brachiocephalic vein, the external jugular is smaller and leads to the subclavian vein and the anterior jugular is the smallest jugular vein.
- Jumper’s Knee - A painful condition suffered by athletes and dancers in which inflammation develops in the knee joint.
- Junk Food - food of little nutritional value, such as high-fat processed snacks, eaten between or in place of proper meals.
